Inspired by a musical number of the same name in Stephen Sondheim’s musical Sunday in the Park with George, I wanted to write a piece starting from the title. What did I hear when I read the words “Color & Light?” I wrote a few ideas and gave each movement a title and used that imagery as the inspiration for the piece. This piece began as my experiment of writing for violin and has suddenly blossomed into this large. 

            Each movement journeys into different imageries based on the title of the movement. When listening, what do you hear? What do you see that is beautiful, dark, or chilling?
